We are now 4 days from it being announced that the Public Investment Fund in Saudi Arabia will be the new owners of Newcastle United and there is still no more news on the future of current manager Steve Bruce.
The former Sunderland managers’ job at St James’ Park has been under threat since the takeover has occurred with many speculating that Bruce will be relieved of his duties prior to Newcastle’s game against Tottenham on Sunday.
This can be backed up by the fact that one of the joint owners Amanda Staveley spoke to the manager and the squad earlier this afternoon. Reports are also suggesting that former Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, is to be Bruce’s successor in the northeast.

So if Bruce is to be sacked this week, when will it be?
The most likely scenario is that Bruce will be sacked or his contract mutually terminated early this week to give enough time for the new manager to prepare for the return to league football, after the international break, this weekend.
Bruce has been at the helm at St James’ Park since July 2019 after leaving Sheffield Wednesday for the Toon Army. 96 games later and Bruce is now recording a win percentage as low as 29.2%, which is the worst in his managerial career so far.
He guided Newcastle to 13th and 12th place finishes in this first two seasons in charge and this season is winless in the opening 7 games. Sitting second bottom in the league, a position that both fans and the new owners have clearly stated is not where the club needs to be, is another reason why Bruce is not the man to lead Newcastle in the new era of the club.
Newcastle will host Tottenham at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, live on Sky Sports, and it will have millions of viewers not only watching on the pitch action but also see if Bruce is in the dugout or someone else.
