WHO WILL GET THE TOP FOUR?

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

The talk of the town is who will make the Top 4 in the Premier League at the end of the season and with it being so tight the answer is still anyone's guess. So who is more likely to get Top 4 and who might shock the system?

Currently it looks like the only two places in the whole table that look safe to say are secured is top and bottom of the table with Man City 14 points clear at the top of the table and Sheffield United 14 points adrift of safety.

So three places are left in the top 4 and in the positions at the minute are:

2nd Manchester United 57pts +24 GD

3rd Leicester City 56pts +21 GD

4th Chelsea 51pts +19 GD

All three teams have 9 games left to play in the season so it's not yet mathematically impossible for them to finish outside the Top 4. With that being the case what are their last 9 games and how likely are they to win them?

Manchester United's Last 9 Games

April 4th - 19.30 Brighton (H)

April 11th - 16.30 Tottenham (A)

April 17th* Burnley (H)

April 24th* Leeds (A) May 1st* Liverpool (H) May 8th* Aston Villa (A)

May 11th* Leicester City (H) May 15th* Fulham (H)

May 23rd* Wolves (A)

Leicester City's Last 9 Games

April 3rd - 17.30 Man City (H)

April 11th - 14.05 West Ham (A)

April 17th* West Brom (H)

April 24th* Crystal Palace (H)

May 1st* Southampton (A) May 8th* Newcastle (H)

May 11th * Man United (A)

May 15th* Chelsea (A)

May 23rd* Tottenham (H)

Chelsea's Last 9 Games

April 3rd - 12.30 West Brom (H)

April 10th - 17.30 Crystal Palace (A) April 17th* Brighton (H)

April 24th* West Ham (A) May 1st* Fulham (H)

May 8th* Man City (A)

May 12th* Arsenal (H)

May 15th* Leicester (H)

May 23rd* Aston Villa (A)

So with a mix of fixtures to come who are the other potential top 4 contenders?

5th West Ham 48pts +10 GD

6th Liverpool 46pts +12 GD

7th Everton 46pts +3 GD

8th Tottenham 45pts +17 GD

4 teams at the moment I would say are in the fight for places in the top 4. The most surprising of the 4 would be West Ham who finished 16th last season and have already won 4 more games with 10 to go than in the whole of last season, so definitely a real contender to fight for top 4.

Another would be current Premier League champions Liverpool who have been desamated by injuries this season and haven't performed to the levels expected of them this season. With 9 games to go they are just 5 points off top 4 and their last 9 fixtures include Aston Villa, Newcastle, Southampton, West Brom and Crystal Palace all teams you would say Liverpool should be victorious against and aren't in the best form themselves in the league.

The next contender would be the other team on Merseyside, Everton. Carlo Ancelotti's side have 9 games left to play and are also just 5 points off 4th place Chelsea who Everton have a game in hand over also. The Toffee's last 9 fixtures of the season include Crystal Palace, Brighton, Aston Villa, Sheffield United who they would see winable games with Arsenal, Spurs and Man City mixed in aswell.

The final current contender is Tottenham. Jose Mourinho's side would see finishing in Europe a must this season with their recent good form in the Europa League. The club and the fans would see finish in the top 6 or 7 a very reasonable target for the North London club. Spurs finished 6th last season on 59pts and 7 points off top 4 at the end of 38 games, so retaining or improving would have been the aim and that aim is still within sight with fixtures such as regelation striken Sheffield United, both games against Aston Villa and Newcastle alongside more testing fixtures such as Leicester, Everton and Manchester United who are also in the top 4 fight.

So 9 or 10 games to go in the season and 7 teams fighting for 3 places, who will get them and who will just miss out, only time will tell!!
