THE GUNNERS SNATCH A WIN AGAINST THE BLUES

It was a game that Chelsea had a great record in at the Bridge but Arsenal overcame that tonight with a narrow 1-0 win over their London rivals.
It makes it only 2 defeats at home for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel both coming in the Premier League. It is also Arsenal’s first win away to Chelsea since October 2011 in a game that didn’t disappoint and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta played in.
It took Arsenal just 16 minutes to score the only goal of the night through a terrible display of defending from Chelsea. Jorginho intended to play it back to his goalkeeper not realising Kepa was wide of the goal and the Chelsea No 1 had to bat it away off the line but it wasn’t enough as Aubameyang lays it off to Emile Smith-Rowe and the 20 year old slotted into the Chelsea net to take the lead!
It has to be said strong, resilient defending from the Gunners in the end kept Chelsea out throughout the game. Constantly in the 1st Half Arsenal played Chelsea at their own game and pressed excellently and held the ball well and gave the Blues a rough ride in the first 45.
Tuchel made a change at Half-Time swapping Billy Gilmour for Callum Hudson-Odoi and despite Chelsea being the better side in the second half with a total of 11 shots and 2 on target in the second half alone they still couldn’t break down Arteta’s team. More changes and more adjustments from Tuchel but once again it didn’t have the desired impact that he would have wanted.
The result stops Chelsea’s unbeaten run of 7 straight games and a 3 game winning run along with it. On the other hand, Arsenal now unbeaten in 4 straight games and are also unbeaten in the last 4 games against Chelsea.
What impact does it have on the table? Well, Chelsea had the chance to leapfrog Leicester back into 3rd place but they remain in 4th and 6 points clear of 5th place West Ham. Arsenal move up a place into 8th and now just 3 points off Europa League places.
Next up for Chelsea is Leicester in the FA Cup Final on Saturday and Arsenal have one final London Derby to play when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace in 7 days time.
