MY EURO 2020 PREDICTIONS!

After an extra year’s delay, Euro 2020 officially gets underway on Friday night! Just 4 days until 24 European countries battle it out to reach the Final on 11 July.

I have included below my predictions for the competition. It’s no surprise that I have picked one of the favourites to win but I’m staying loyal to my 2018 World Cup prediction in saying that France will take the crown from reigning Champions Portugal.

Many people have argued for other countries such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, England, and even the Netherlands. However, I stay loyal and will support the current World Champions. Allez Les Bleus!

I have also predicted that France will take on neighbours Spain in the Final. If I am correct we are certain to have an exciting final!

I would say that I haven’t made any unexpected predictions. However, I have predicted that Spain would defeat Portugal in the Quarter-Finals. I based this prediction on their recent friendly which ended 0-0. I feel like it will either be a match on a knife-edge, like the friendly, or full of goals!

In terms of England’s chances, I think they are pretty slim. Although England have a fantastic group of players to work with. After witnessing both friendlies against Austria and Romania, they look like they haven’t clicked together as a team yet! They certainly have the talent, I think it is just the final piece of the puzzle for England and that is a strong team dynamic on the pitch.

Why I have chosen France as my winners? I have decided to pick France as my Euro Champions because they have an abundance of talent that flows throughout the team in an array of different positions and have flexible and fluid players who don’t always have a set position on the pitch such as Antoine Griezmann who can exploit more spaces and create more intent for the team to attack.

I also feel that France are perfectly linked up in reference to their playing style. All the players in the team know exactly where they need to be and when at any given moment in time. That is a very valuable asset in an International tournament in that it sets you out from the rest and makes your team much more difficult to cope with.

Finally, Euro 2020 kicks off on Friday night at 8pm with Turkey v Italy getting the tournament underway.
