A mixed bag of results started the Euros for the home nations. England got a narrow 1-0 win over Croatia, Wales held Switzerland to a 1-1 draw and Scotland were beaten 2-0 by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park.

With both England and Scotland in Group D, there is more interest and excitement around those countries’ chances. After the first round of Group D results, England are currently 2nd with 3 points and a +1 goal difference. Scotland find themselves bottom of the group and yet to get off the mark.
Wales were lucky to get a draw out of Switzerland after a late goal from the Swiss was ruled out by VAR. That means that Wales are in 3rd in Group A ahead of Turkey who were beaten by Italy 3-0 in the opening game on Friday.

Wales return to action when they face Turkey on Wednesday in Azerbaijan. England will host Scotland on Friday night at Wembley. It is a game that will hold a lot of significance not only in terms of the group but it will also reignite a historic rivalry between England and Scotland.
