CHRIS WILDER TO STEP DOWN AS BLADES MANAGER

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

Chris Wilder is due to step down as manager of Premier League club Sheffield United on Friday.

Wilder has led Sheffield United to two promotions and an abundance of great happiness in almost 5 years as the main man at Bramall Lane.

He joined the Blades as manager in May 2016 and progressed them into the Premier League last season, in which they finished in 9th place, however this season has gone quite to plan. A mix of injuries and lack of luck has brought Sheffield United a great load of disappointment with them almost condemned back to the Championship. They have 14 points from 28 matches this season and are 12 points from safety with 10 games to go.

It is reported that Wilder has had many disagreements with the board in the past few months in relation to the recruitment strategies with their £23 million record signing Rhian Brewster from Liverpool seeming a very distasteful move with the 20 year old yet to score for the Blades in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

Sheffield United travel to Leicester City on Sunday @ 2pm, with the Blades losing 22 out of 28 games this season and only 1 away win, at Old Trafford of all places.
