It has been reported that Belfast shopping centre CastleCourt is to reveal their plans for the space left by Debenhams when it shut earlier this year, within the next few days.
A spokesperson for the plans stated, “CastleCourt cannot comment on any potential tenancies until negotiations are completed. We expect to make an announcement in the coming days.”
The sudden build-up of excitement comes as, over the Summer, the bosses at the shopping centre revealed they were close to agreeing on a deal with two tenants to replace the old retailer.
There have been many suggestions as to what should be done with the empty space in the popular shopping centre. Activities such as indoor caving, bumper cars and even a virtual reality arcade were proposed through a public consultation run over the summer.
It is understood that the shopping centre has already submitted detailed plans for the empty unit. Reports suggest that the plans have been divided into three floors with a cafe and retail area on the ground floor, a cinema and family entertainment on the first floor followed by a bar and an outdoor terrace on the second floor.
With the full announcement by CastleCourt expected within the next few days, it will create a huge boost of excitement for not only the shopping centre but the city centre as a whole.
