Rory McIlroy has been crowned the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
A year that the Holywood man will never forget, and whose name will go down in golfing history.
The crown of only the 6th player in golf history to achieve a career grand slam with his tense yet incredible Masters victory at Augusta National back in April.

McIlroy finally got his hands on the illusive green jacket after a dramatic playoff round against Justin Rose to win the tournament after both players finished 11 under par thru 18 holes in the final round.
In his crowning moment, Rory spoke of the incredible year he has had.
McIlroy exclaimed, "2025 is the year I made my dreams come true."
"From Augusta to the Ryder Cup and everything in between. It's the year that dreams are made of."

The Masters was the final piece of the historic puzzle for McIlroy in completing the career grand slam, but it didn't come easy at all. Having to wait 11 years between winning the first 3 in the quadruple before finally sealing the Masters in 2025.
It makes him the first Northern Irish Sports Personality of the Year since AP McCoy in 2010. A feat that not even the great George Best was able to achieve in his peak years.
Rory McIlroy is now undoubtedly the pride of Northern Ireland and a sporting star that will be remembered as one of the greatest ever athletes to ever hail from this little corner of the world.
